I am intrigued by the relationship between the human spirit and how it is embodied in the forms found in nature.  Some of my favorite metaphors are found in the beauty of the tree.  Each tree reveals the human experience in its own way, by the shape of its trunk or the curve of its branches.  I like to use bold colors and strong, sensual lines to portray that experience.
Breaking down this concept even further, I am interested in finding simplicity in something complex.  I like to paint segments, or close up views of a natural form to help the viewer look deeper into that world.  The experience then becomes more intimate. 
Painting is always very cathartic for me.  I create my compositions from the inside out, depicting what I experience, as opposed to what I physically see in front of me.
